Third Class Wrap Up and Celebration

Last Friday, February 26, was our first Game CoLab Mixer in 2016. We celebrated the graduation of our Third Class cohort of the Game CoLab Incubator program and had an excellent time at Boondocks Patio & Grill in Old Town Scottsdale. This incubator program was made possible through the foresight and generosity of the City of Phoenix. Their financial and public relations support helped us level up three local independent video game developers.

Ornithopter Games, run by Tyler Coles, is making a mobile game called Buff Mountain in which you get to prove that you are the buffest lumberjack around by running up the mountain and punching wolves and dodging boulders!

Branden Greene-Hooks of ZeroFolio, created and launched his game GEO during the incubator program and you can purchase the physics-based puzzler game for iOS, Android, Amazon and Windows phones here.

Terrasect Mobile, LLC, run by Jeff Rosenberg and John Wisniewski, has been making mobile games for clients like Francisco's Brick Pizza Game and mobile virtual reality games for Google Cardboard like Wizards 1984. They came into the incubator program to further develop their modified Google Cardboard. This is the first team we've had in our classes that's working on hardware. This was definitely an interesting challenge for us!

If you'd like to know more about any of these teams and their games, please visit their websites and join us for future Game CoLab Mixers and our AZ Video Game Showcase at Phoenix Comicon in early June.

We've made the decision to host Mixers on a regular basis every two months so you can gather and meet video game developers and play their latest creations. In addition to the incubator team's mentioned above we also had several other developers bring their games, including Game CoLab Affiliate Broken Window Studios and their game Grave. We even had a few board games demoed!

Join us at the end of April for our next Mixer. And in the meantime, check out our AZ Video Game Directory and Store and if you've got a job or portfolio you'd like to make public, join our Jobs Directory.

Cheers! Ben
